An Ode to Black Ants heads to IFFSA Toronto.

An Ode to Black Ants reaches its Gala Premiere at IFFSA Toronto 2026 on 14 October, marking an important milestone for the film and the filmmakers behind it.

For adGrains, the film represents the kind of creative relationship the studio is increasingly interested in developing: one that extends beyond a conventional production or post-production assignment and brings creative support, co-production and technical collaboration together.

adGrains joined the project as a co-producing and creative-support partner, contributing VFX expertise and supporting the film through its final technical delivery for festival presentation.

Shibeesh K Chandran, Founder and Creative Director of adGrains, has a particular interest in working alongside independent filmmakers. Years of commercial filmmaking, editing and post-production have built both experience and a creative network that he is increasingly bringing into independently developed cinema.

Shameel, Head of VFX at adGrains and a trained motion-capture specialist, supervised and worked on the film’s visual effects shots. His expertise spans VFX supervision, compositing and motion-capture technology. adGrains also supported the film’s final technical delivery, including preparing the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for its IFFSA Toronto screening.

Independent productions often ask for a different kind of patience. They develop through revision, collaboration and time, and the most useful support is not always confined to a fixed commercial production schedule. That is the space adGrains wants to continue working in: helping filmmakers move a project forward while preserving the individual voice of the film.
