Create a VFX shot list
Use a spreadsheet with shot ID, sequence, in/out timecode, frame range, requested task, priority and reference link. Shot IDs must stay consistent through revisions.

CLIENT GUIDE / VFX & COMPOSITING
Clear shot IDs. Clean plates. Accurate timecodes.
A good VFX turnover reduces relinking errors and unnecessary revisions across editorial, compositing and online finishing.
STEP BY STEP
Use a spreadsheet with shot ID, sequence, in/out timecode, frame range, requested task, priority and reference link. Shot IDs must stay consistent through revisions.
Provide a locked or current reference movie with picture timecode and clearly labelled VFX shots. Include individual shot notes or annotated stills.
Send original camera footage or approved high-quality image sequences. Include clean plates, alternate takes, tracking references and on-set camera data if available.
A starting point for many jobs is 16–24 frames before and after a shot, but we will confirm the exact number for each effect.
If shot turnovers come from a timeline, send the agreed XML or EDL plus source media references. Tell us frame rate, resolution, lens data and the working colour pipeline.
We agree working plates, delivery naming, review versions, accepted codecs or EXR sequences and colour-management settings before compositing.
TECHNICAL NOTES
A turnover XML or EDL helps identify edits and source timecodes but the actual VFX plates must also be transferred.
Camera log, ACES and linear EXR need a consistent agreed pipeline. Do not apply a creative LUT destructively to plates unless instructed.

BEFORE YOU UPLOAD
Do not bake temporary graphics, subtitles, letterboxing or watermarks into the actual clean VFX plates.
